History Tour of Blackfriars & Lunch


Explore the long and turbulent history of Blackfriars, a 13th-century former Dominican friary from its medieval origins, right up to the present day.

Dating back to 1239, Blackfriars lays claim to being the oldest dining room in the UK, the jewel in Newcastle’s medieval past, and a stalwart of the local dining scene.

Enjoy a 45-minute tour of a Grade I Scheduled Ancient Monument together with a 3 course set lunch in the restaurant after the tour with wine and coffee.

WHERE: Meet in the Parlour Bar

TIMES: 11.30am, Mondays & Thursdays (excluding dates 29 Nov 21-3 Jan 22). After buying your ticket(s), please email us on info@blackfriarsrestaurant.co.uk or phone 0191 261 5945 to check our availability. We’ll do our best to book you onto the next available tour though may need 2 or 3 days' notice. 

COST: £32.50 and includes a tour of Blackfriars and a 3 course set lunch, glass of house wine, local beer or soft drink.

TICKETS: please note although we don’t send out physical tickets, you will receive a confirmation from our on-line booking system.

We simply add bookings to our internal diary so we know to expect you.
