Wednesday Cookery Club - Beginners Basics

Enjoy a fun and interactive cooking session with one of our top chefs who will show you some basic and fundamental techniques including the importance of cooking at the right temperature and how to extract the maximum flavour from your food.

You’ll be shown how to make some simply delicious hearty dishes - making the most of the local seasonal produce on our doorsteps.

For home cooks who want to take their cooking to the next level, these group sessions give you a taste of the subject, allow you to go at your  own pace whilst cooking with like-minded individuals in a communal environment and are designed to give you experience, skills and confidence in the kitchen. 


What to expect:

How to sharpen a knife
Eggs – poached, basted, scrambled
Cutting - Julienne, allumette, baton, brunoise, macedoine, paysanne
Ways to cook - steaming, boiling, frying and roasting
Stocks, sauces & soups

Bread - basic beginners on how to make white bread 
Chicken - joint it and how to cook it in different ways
Timings - how to time all dishes.

Enjoy an evening preparing some delicious food to eat around a communal table at the end of the night with your new found friends! These courses are designed to be relaxed, informative and fun.

WHERE: Blackfriars Cookery School

TIMES: 6-9pm

COST: £45 per person per evening/£229 for a six week block which includes all your food produce, refreshments and meal to take home. Payment upon booking. Places are only confirmed once paid in full and are non-refundable or transferable.

WHAT TO BRING: Aprons can be borrowed though please arrive in comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting a bit messy. And bring your enthusiasm!
