Sidney's has been snapped up!

After seven incredible years, we're writing to let you know that we have now sold Sidney's - but it's in safe hands.

The new chef/proprietor is Alan O'Kane who ran The Angel Inn at Corbridge for some years where he gained a Michelin Bib Gourmand (meaning ‘Good food at good value for money’) before selling-up at the back end of last year. He intends to continue running the restaurant with the same name and formula that has proved so successful over the past seven years whilst concentrating even more on fish specials.

We have more than proved our worth by retaining our AA Rosette and Michelin Bib Gourmand every year and are proud to hand over the restaurant in such good health. I think Sidney’s will benefit from a chef proprietor and Alan comes with very good credentials – The Angel at Corbridge and Sidney’s have been two of just three restaurants in Tyne and Wear in recent years to hold the Michelin award. We all wish him the very best success. We now intend to concentrate on our two Newcastle operations, Blackfriars Restaurant and Café Peel @ Dance City. Blackfriars in particular has recently expanded its operation with upgraded conference facilities and extended opening hours.

The staff will all be offered either continued employment with Alan O’Kane’s new company or with Blackfriars Restaurant in Newcastle.
