Following your incredible generosity last year when we raised some much needed funds for St Oswald’s Hospice, Andy Hook, owner of Blackfriars, has decided to take part in not one but two of the most gruelling triathlons in the UK this year.
In May he’ll be breaking the ice to swim over 1km in a frozen New Forest lake followed by a 40km bike ride and 10km run. Later in June he’ll do the same in the cold North Sea at Bamburgh for the Castle’s Triathlon.
Both events are in aid of the Evening Chronicle Sunshine Fund, which helps disabled North East children and their families, including Blackfriars restaurant manager Liam MacDonald’s four year-old son Aidan who suffers from Cerebral Palsy.
Despite working long, hard hours, Liam's up every morning before 6am for Aidan's gruelling physio session. The cost of special shoes and equipment is a real drain on Liam & Vikki so it'd be great if we could help them out. If you’d like to sponsor Andy, please click here. All donations, however small, will be very much appreciated.
